Animated GIF problems[edit]

Cross posted from Commons:Village pump#Animated GIF problems

I've updated User:Dispenser/GIF check. It now flags animations over 2 minutes long, since video have a better UX. Many GIFs are incorrectly timed with frame rates of 100 FPS. I've used GIF Movie Gear to re-time these (Does anybody have a free alternative?). I've also noticed Firefox's is 2/100 sec animation is slow. Dispenser (talk) 17:33, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Image in zoomviewer[edit]

Not sure where to ask this, but here's an image[1] that is available in quite high res when you zoom in on it. The problem is, it can't be downloaded. Anyone know how to circumvent it? FunkMonk (talk) 16:50, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The image is broken up into single tiles that you'd need to recombine. The direct links to the tiles range from
where the number scheme x-y-z.jpg is quality – x-coordinate – y-coordinate with
  • "4-y-z" being the highest quality available (lower numbers = lower quality),
  • "x-0-0" being the upper left corner
  • "x-5-9" being the lower right corner

 Request taken by --Patrick87 (talk) 19:00, 14 August 2013 (UTC) – I'll do it now.[reply]
✓ Done, see File:BUFFON, C. - OISEAUX. 1. Le Perroquet vert - 2. Le Mascarin.jpg. I used "jpegjoin" from the jpegtran package, to losslessly stitch the tiles together. Please complete the file description where necessary and do the categorization. --Patrick87 (talk) 20:16, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, thanks a lot! That is some complicated stuff... FunkMonk (talk) 22:51, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Exif fixing[edit]

Per this OTRS request, would someone be able to edit this and this file so that the name can be removed from the image data? Thanks! Kevin Rutherford (talk) 04:21, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I just realized that none of the images are on Commons, so I have moved the request here. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 04:29, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(Photography) help shooting in RAW[edit]

I shot a bunch of roses last weekend at a Botanical garden, and I'm slowly uploading all the pictures to Commons. I'm having issues converting the .RAW camera output to color-correct JPEGs/PNGs for Commons. My Sony NEX-5 outputs the colors fine when writing in low-quality JPEG mode, but in RAW mode, all the oranges turn red, and all the reds turn pink. Beiges, greens and blues are largely unaffected. I'm using UFRAW to convert the files.

How do I fix this? I've tried playing with the white balance and Green level sliders but it seems impossible to match the Camera's JPG colors.—Love, Kelvinsong talk 21:09, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've had similar problems with UFRaw. While I don't know how to fix it, I have another piece of advice for you if you don't know it yet: Unless you are on Windows, you can use darktable, which also has a generally better workflow (I suggest version 1.1.4 rather than 1.2.x though, that's the last one with a sane perspective correction tool). Hope this helps. darkweasel94 21:20, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thank you!!! Darktable is awesome, and it outputs the colors right too! Now to reconvert all the other rose pictures…😐—Love, Kelvinsong talk 00:42, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thumbnail not purging[edit]

File:Coat of Arms of Malo-les-Bains.svg, 555px (on the file page) keeps showing a revision that has been deleted for a quite a while now. This revision contained an element which is copyright infringing, so it's important to get it to update. Could someone give it a try? :-) Lemmens, Tom (talk) 22:39, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
