Copyright incomprehension

I have just posted some of my images on the Commons, and I'm indicated they will be deleted if I don't clarify the copyright status. What does this mean? Unfortunately, you didn't add any copyright tags when you uploaded Image:Antigonish Harbour Panorama2.jpg and Image:Bagnoreggio Panorama.jpg , so we don't know under what terms you are allowing other people to re-use these images (which is an essential part of uploading photographs you have taken to Wikimedia/Wikipedia). It would have been nice if you had filled out all the fields in the image description templates. AnonMoos 07:21, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Interesting, so how exactly can I fill out all of the fields in the image description templates? It seems to need very precise wording, perhaps depending on which country I am from? The template tag for Canada is Cc-by-sa-2.0-ca I believe. If this is the right template, how do I aply it?

Viewing JPG Metadata in Windows

How to Volunteer

Hi, How do I volunteer to be part of the graphics lab. My specialty is Adobe Photoshop. I am quite good with image correction and restoration. The Graphics Lab is something that I suggested in late 2004. I did not realize that it had come to fruition. So how do I sign up? Thanks, Jocsboss

Or on the English one en:Wikipedia:Graphic Lab, more active. The commons's one need some leader to "fly up" , and to complete the Commons:Move_toward_Commons_2.0_!. I'm leaving Wikipedia and Commons, so I stop here, and I hope that others will (quickly) replace me to "move toward".

For the little story, the first graphic lab was open by myself on June 2005, on the french wikipedia. Since then, an Deutsch (2005), English (dec. 2006), and Spanish (2007) have open their door and cleaned up about about 2000 images all together. See more on : This Wikimedia 2007 presentation.

I leave wikipedia in part because I think Wikimedia have the money need to buy already-good set of pics for a really cheap price, and don't do so because we are better that slaves : we are happy and generous volunteers. I feel the Wikimedia's behaviour insulting for all my friends on Wikipedia-fr who spend lot of time to improve images and show lot of generosity. --Yug (talk) 09:08, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

strange overlay on jpg image

Hello, someone is asking a question on the English wikipedia[1]. On the following commons image : Image:Bigbullmoose.jpg, there is a text overlay in white saying "inotomoose", yet when I click to expand the image to full size it is gone, and at small resolutions it is not there either. It is not an html/css overlay because I downloaded the image to see, only the version visible on the image page has this on it, resized versions don't. I even tried reuploading to no avail. Is it possible for people to hack the jpg format to reveal artifacts only when the server resizes the image to a particular size ? Jackaranga 16:52, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi, did you try moving the image to a different spot on the page? or renaming the image? It may be a transparent layer that "floats" over that particular image or area on the page. Jocsboss 18:49, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

It was a leftover thumbnail of a previous version of that image, either http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/archive/4/47/20070612053337%21Bigbullmoose.jpg or http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/archive/4/47/20070523192450%21Bigbullmoose.jpg.
