  •  Comment - Found this Lviv Conservatory .pdf with her Cyrillic name on it, by looking up her Cyrillic name. Unfortunately, Ikan, I can't seem to translate the article with Google Translate. It automatically downloads the document to my phone, and I can't seem to copy the text. Do you know of any Ukrainian-speaking Wikimedians who may be able to be of assistance to us? ― Gerifalte Del Sabana 08:15, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • The guidelines state that the names of the performers are necessary only if known, though. Now that we have that, perhaps further details are unnecessary? I'm not sure. ― Gerifalte Del Sabana 08:18, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • In a case in which the performer doesn't have a Wikipedia article, I think we should require some biographical information. In this case, we don't even know whether she's faculty or a fantastic student performer. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:41, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Ikan Kekek: Point noted and agreed. The most substantial piece of information about the performer that I could find was the document I linked above; it may provide information. I'll try to find someone to translate it in the meantime. ― Gerifalte Del Sabana 08:46, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Ikan Kekek: I managed to come in contact with a colleague of the performer on Facebook — the performer of Category:Sonatine (Ravel) who was also part of the collaboration of the Lviv Conservatory with Wikimedia Ukraine. She gave me a short biography of herself, and proceeded to provide me with the contact information of the performer of this piece, i.e., Olena Havyuk-Sheremet. I have contacted her and am awaiting her response. I believe it is not necessary for me to include a citation for a short and concise biography of her, do I? I have also managed to ascertain that the performances were considered student performances as part of their education at the Lviv Conservatory. ― Gerifalte Del Sabana 04:06, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I can only confirm that Olena Havyuk-Sheremet was a student when we made the recording, and it was a student concert. The linked article is by Olena, but not about Olena - it's about Mariya Krushelnytska, a famous Lviv pianist (pinging GerifalteDelSabana) --Yuriy Bulka (talk) 09:29, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @AKA MBG: You should not vote purely based on your opinion of a historical composition. This is a discussion and a nomination based on the technical audio quality and the skill level of the interpretation, not a discussion about the structure and taste of Ravel's piece. It is a composition from the early twentieth-century, and it has been flawlessly performed as it was meant to. If you would like to criticize the composition of the music, I suggest you to invent your own time machine to transport you back to 1904 in order to intervene and stop him from notating it. Cheers! :-) ― Gerifalte Del Sabana 14:46, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
But thank you, nevertheless, for not immediately jumping in with an oppose vote. :) -Gerifalte 16:26, 13 May 2019 (UTC) [reply]
  • Thank you for this fun comment :) But I think that during selection and discussion of featured sound candidates the principle "WOW" (which is often encountered in discussions of featured pictures) also works for audio composition. So the personal attitude and subjectivity may influence to the overall result. --Andrew Krizhanovsky (talk) 17:31, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
