SHORT DESCRIPTION
I am confused - which version are we voting on? I love the composition and was happy with the original, but really want to be sure that what I am supporting is the image that will be promoted and not some other version of it. --Kritzolina (talk) 07:28, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dispensable
  •  Comment Nirmal, this is FP quality, but you need to ask Prasan to correct small cloning error on the barbed wire (I've marked it up). I will then run it through my software to sharpen it up for you. If you like the cropped and lightened version I have uploaded, then you can replace. Charlesjsharp (talk) 15:12, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Charles, perhaps you should take it a bit easy with these unsolicited major changes that you upload on other peoples' photos. A simple dust spot or CA removal is fine, but this is changing the whole appearance of the photo. It would be better if you made the change on a separate file in your Dropbox and let the author/nominator decide if they want to use it. (Like I did here for example.) I know you mean well, but even if you revert your edit and say that the choise is the authors, it's still there and it's usually only a matter of time before someone gets a funny idea about the photo and re-revert the edit. Just look at the mess in this file's history where you are overwriting the author's edits. This acting is irresponsible and counter the good you are trying to do. Please ask first! I don't think you would want this on one of your photos. --Cart (talk) 19:47, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am trying to help a good friend. We have spent good times together in Kathmandu. Following my suggestion, Nirmal asked Prasan to upload a new cropped image which he did. I then edited it. I assume that Prasan flipped his image by mistake. You may not like the edit, but it is certainly not unsolicited or irresponsible. Sorry, Nirmal, I tried to help. I've reverted back to the original version, Ivar and Ikan Kekek. Charlesjsharp (talk) 21:55, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I understand, Charles. I'll wait a little longer to see how things develop, though. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:02, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm afraid I'm not as understanding as Ikan, Charles. If you are helping and communicating with someone through other channels, you should say so here on the nom. The rest of us have no way of knowing what you are up to. All we can see is that you are doing unexplained things on someone else's photo. You did a similar thing, unbidden and unwanted, on one of my most cherished photos and I'm still mad at you for messing with that. I don't want you doing the same mistake to someone else. --Cart (talk) 22:09, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • No, you are not understanding. Or rather, you choose not to understand. I AM NOT COMMUNICATING THROUGH OTHER CHANNELS. Everything I do is visible to all. Please cut out your unwarranted busybody accusations, snide insinuation and apologise. Charlesjsharp (talk) 08:47, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't get what you're so angry about. Cart's point was that you should have stated this here when making the edit, that's all. Seems like a good suggestion for the future. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:01, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Cart's point about editing FP noms is valid Ikan Kekek, but her accusations and attitude are not helpful here at FP. Goodness knows what they think of this in Nepal. And Colin has not unreasonably taken her insinuation of off-wiki discussions as true and mentioned it on another nomination. I am sure he will remove his comment soon. Charlesjsharp (talk) 20:23, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • You need not worry, Charles, my bad attitude is reserved exclusively for conversations with you. You have been using these master suppression techniques on me for years now, to get me to quit FPC, and I’m getting really tired of it. I have apologized like you wanted, but you are ignoring that. It’s all in the textbook for these techniques. --Cart (talk) 21:50, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's really best not to say that other people's feelings are nonsense or pretending. If you are unable to put yourself in her shoes, that's OK, but you seem to be acting on the false basis that there's something called The Truth, which you are privy to, and anything or anyone who deviates from it is wrong or a liar. Best to have more humility than that. I'm really sorry I'm the one making these remarks to you, but it really bothers me to see men gang up on a woman to try to shout her down because her feelings somehow have to be declared false and ridiculous by acclamation or something. It's not an accident that few women are regulars at FPC. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:42, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Females are not represented on the wiki projects, this disparity is not about FPC, not even about Commons, it's everywhere. Talking about "men gang up" is wrong, guy Kekek. Also saying there's a league or an effort to chase W.carter is completely absurd. Any truth is subjective here, that's obvious for who is used to participate. I repeat Charles doesn't act the way is claimed above, in my view. Nonsense for me Kekek -- Basile Morin (talk) 07:37, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Your opinion is noted. Talk to people like Granada about that if you ever care to. I don't think men are good judges of what is not a hostile atmosphere for women (and note how I phrased that). -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:32, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ok, I have no problem with apologizing for assuming that you communicated through other channels. My mistake. But that makes your actions even more confusing since no explanation for the editing was given when they were made. I'll back out of this discussion now. --Cart (talk) 08:57, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As a woman who was not involved in most of this exchange, I want to thank Ikan Kekek for his thoughtfulness and understanding. --Kritzolina (talk) 07:15, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment Sorry Charles, Sorry to Cart, Ikan Kekek and Basile Morin. It making me feel that I brought controversy and conflict among friends. In my opinion we are all contributing here for good faith, That's why every Wikimedia contributors are friends for me and I never wanted this among my friends. Prasan just solved the cloning error and uploaded it. If you all are not okay with this nomination I can withdraw my nomination too. Best -- Nirmal Dulal (talk) 04:57, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am striking out my vote because I am confused by the quick changes and restorations of versions which do not (always) improve the quality. Please decide on which version we should vote ;–). (And the cloning error should be fixed, it’s so simple.) --Aristeas (talk) 08:22, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
