- Comment Mmmmmh ... I think I like the subject in principle and b&w seems like a good choice as it helps to keep the focus on the facade and off the vegetation. But somehow it's not quite there yet. It looks a bit flat and pale. Is that a straight de-saturation? There's so much you can do with the different color channels when converting to b&w ... maybe try to darken the wooden windows and door a bit to make them pop out against the wall? --El Grafo (talk) 10:26, 12 May 2023 (UTC)
- Support For me this is a very successful black and white photo. Perhaps the difference between black and white can be exaggerated a bit. But that's an experiment.--Famberhorst (talk) 17:26, 12 May 2023 (UTC)

- Question Respectfully, I don't get it. Could someone explain what's great about this photo? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:31, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
- It's the charm of decay. --Palauenc05 (talk) 10:08, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks, I get that, but the composition would satisfy me more if there were more room above the windows. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:03, 16 May 2023 (UTC)

- Support I would second El Grafo’s invitation to experiment a bit more with the possibilites of b&w, but it already works for me as it is. The stuff we can see vaguely through the right window intimates that this is a house full of memories; the door without stairs shows that they are kept secret. Would make a nice cover photo for a poetic novel in the style of The House of Breath etc., or, if one prefers, for an ambitious crime novel like Faithful Place. --Aristeas (talk) 08:22, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
