Info The Clementine Chapel was commissioned by Pope Clement VIII (1592-1605), whose coat of arms stands out against the paving. It was begun by Michelangelo and completed by Giacomo Della Porta (1540-1602) for the Jubilee in 1600. The altar is dedicated to St. Gregory the Great (590-604). In a sarcophagus beneath the altar his remains are preserved, brought here in 1606. This Pope, also called the "Savior of the Church" and the "Defender of Rome", is associated with the name of the Gregorian chant or plainsong which he promoted. Oppose Uneven lighting and uneven sharpness. The top left is dark and blue and the bottom is over-exposed. An HDR technique plus some local adjustment could have compensated for the uneven lighting situation. The image is strangly sharp and unsharp in areas that do not seem related to depth-of-field and look more like camera shake. Is this a stitched image? - Yann, I've added some notes where the unsharp bits are. It isn't a focus issue. It is a long exposure, so perhaps the camera or ceiling shook a little due to tourist traffic? Can't really explain why some bits are sharp other than if created from more than one exposure or serious lens trouble. In addition to these sharpness issues, the light handling is far below the standard we expect from others at FP. I really don't think you'd expect a dark blue corner or a blown bottom from a Diliff, of Code, or myself, or numerous others.... -- Colin (talk) 08:25, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
