- Info The wings are drawn on like that in multiple versions of this photo. I presume they're replacing some stage effect that wouldn't photograph. It's a bold photo for the "now hold that position a few minutes" days of the 1880s. Adam Cuerden (talk) 09:51, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

- Support I agree with you: that's quite an amazing photograph! Unfortunately, I do not know this opera. I imagine it's performed in France. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 11:28, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Ikan Kekek: You'll know the "Infernal galop" from it. It's the song the Can-can is danced to. Adam Cuerden (talk) 13:15, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- Comment OK, yes, then I've heard a ballet suite from the opera. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:59, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- Support ENO did it at the London Coliseum in 2019. Charlesjsharp (talk) 15:29, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- It was actually one of the first two operas I was in, as part of a double bill wih Iolanthe back in 2004 in Edinburgh. Adam Cuerden (talk) 16:33, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- I've played Iolanthe in the pit. Lots of fun! Were you singing a solo role or in the chorus? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:59, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- Chorus! It's such a fun show for chorus, though. I've done some bigger roles since, mainly in the Gilbert-without-Sullivan things. Mr. Brown/The Steward from Ages Ago, Cassandre in Eyes and No Eyes, Gripper in A Sensation Novel, and I was meant to be directing Mozart and Salieri before this year happened. Also did things like the Headsman in Yeomen of the Guard and one of the portrait ghosts in Ruddigore. Adam Cuerden (talk) 21:06, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- Nice! I hope you get to direct Mozart and Salieri soon. Two summers ago, Bard College in the Hudson Valley of New York themed their summer festival around Rimsky-Korsakov, and the final scene of that opera was done in a concert performance. Really good music, as usual for him. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:53, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- My favourite part is the end of the first scene, where Salieri works through his feelings. An utter tour de force. Adam Cuerden (talk) 14:50, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

- Absolutely gorgeous work. I'm slightly hesitant to put speculative colours in articles, since we don't have sources for them and they might mislead slightly, but for any other use, that's amazing. Adam Cuerden (talk) 20:30, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
