Commons:Commons Photographers User Group/Photo walk in Stockholm on August 16, 2019
On August 16, 2019, ArildV, Rhododendrites, and Frank Schulenburg went on the second photo walk of Wikimania 2019 in Stockholm. Participants gathered at Skansen tram stop and started the tour by walking around the beautiful small island of Beckholmen. Having served the city's shipping industry for centuries, Beckholmen is now regarded as a historical monument of national interest. All three participants tried to take images of Beckholmen that could later be used as contributions to Wiki Loves Monuments Sweden later this year. Driven by hunger, we headed to a restaurant, not without taking pictures of the Stockholm waterfront and several historic ships along the way. At dinner, we talked about featured picture candidates, the future of the user group, and about the Commons photographer community in general. Then, we walked to the next metro station and explored the beauty of Stockholm's metro system. Guided by Arild, we took plenty of images of the architectural treasures of the underground stations in Stockholm. It was a wonderful event, an excellent way of connecting with fellow Commons photographers, and a fantastic opportunity of having in-person conversations about gear and photography techniques.
