Bot's tasks for which permission is being sought: Adds {{Moved from Japanese Wikipedia}} to files. This only works if the file was imported from Japanese Wikipedia not via FileImporter and when speedy deletion of the original file is requested. Since this is part of a task on Japanese Wikipedia, it does not work on Commons alone.
Automatic or manually assisted: Automatic
Edit type (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): Periodic, currently twice a day
Maximum edit rate (e.g. edits per minute): 12 edits per min or less
Bot flag requested: (Y/N): Y
Programming language(s): Python (using Pywikibot and MWParserFromHell)
The purpose of this task is to help speedy deletion in Japanese Wikipedia. 本日晴天 (talk) 01:44, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
Discussion
Please make a few test edits. --Krd 07:29, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- I for one am very happy! Some days ago I made a question at Bureaucrats' noticeboard about admin flag for my bot. The problem is that about 13k files have been moved from ja.wiki to Commons and many of them were moved with bad information and the wrong license.
- It is a huge task to clean that mess up and if this bot works it will be a very big help. I think it will because 本日晴天 have been using the bot on ja.wiki for some time (it has permission to delete files there) and it works very well.
- Question: Can the bot check if the licenses are the same on ja.wiki and Commons and if not update the license on Commons? Or perhaps add the file to a list somewhere with a note that license may be wrong? --MGA73 (talk) 12:54, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Krd: Currently, the bot has edited about 80 files. There was a mistake in some argument of the template at the beginning, but I manually reverted and fixed the bug.
- @MGA73: I think it is possible to check equality of license of files on Wikipedia and Commons by my bot. Please let me know if there are any points to note (e.g. {{GFDL}} was moved to {{GFDL-ja}} on last year in Japanese Wikipedia). --本日晴天 (talk) 09:10, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- @本日晴天: personally I do not like disclaimers so I prefer {{GFDL}} rather than {{GFDL-ja}}. But I do not think that we can decide to remove the disclaimers. I think that only the uploader can do that. But to be honest I'm not an expert on that. Unless we can have someone give us a clear Yes or No I will let you decide if the bot should concider GFDL vs GFDL-ja as a difference. Perhaps @ネイ: have a better answer? --MGA73 (talk) 09:39, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- My opinion is, we can treat GFDL and GFDL-ja as the same before they were split on jawiki, and different afterwards. ネイ (talk) 12:53, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
- I have checked the latest 10 edits and one of the big edits and they all looked good to me. --MGA73 (talk) 16:24, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
- Support The bot made a new edit and it also looks good. I think the bot can be approved. My question about differences in licenses can be added to ja:利用者:SeitenBot2/即時削除を見送ったファイル. --MGA73 (talk) 17:30, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- I haven't implemented that function yet, but I plan to do it in the near future. I am thinking of outputting only the judgment result to ja:利用者:SeitenBot2/即時削除を見送ったファイル and outputting the details to a Commons' page. --本日晴天 (talk) 01:47, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
- @本日晴天: Sounds good. I was just trying to say that my question about check of licenses should not block for an approval of the bot on Commons. I checked 3 more edits and they also looked good. --MGA73 (talk) 18:37, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

- @本日晴天: this diff I do not understand. --MGA73 (talk) 19:15, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for reporting.
The cause seem to be that the bot can't find original upload logs because the file in Japanese Wikipedia has been renamed in the past.I've deactivated the task and I'm trying to modify the script. --本日晴天 (talk) 00:38, 14 February 2021 (UTC)- Fixed.@MGA73: My guess was incorrect. The bot couldn't get right date of importing when file was imported by re-uploading. I changed the script to use SHA1 hash to get the correct timestamp of importing when FileImporter was not used. And I've reactivated the task. --本日晴天 (talk) 18:41, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
- @本日晴天: yes it looks right now. When @Krd: have some time perhaps we can hear if anything else is needed? --MGA73 (talk) 20:47, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

- I've set the bot flag now for continuous test. If nothing else arises within a few days, I think this can be approved. --Krd 09:48, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Approved. --Krd 16:35, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
