Bot's tasks for which permission is being sought: Permission only to flag ~800 images for a Wikimedia France project with the OTRS Permission template, ticket otrs:8698921.

Automatic or manually assisted: Mostly automatic

Edit type (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): for the specific asked task only

Maximum edit rate (e.g. edits per minute): 10 (if that is appropriate?)

Bot flag requested: (Y/N): Yes, that is main reason of this request, since it will edit ~800

Programming language(s): AWB (permission for AWB will also be requested)

Furthermore, I would like to add that my bot as more than 57'000 edits on frwiki and that I am experienced enough to run a bot. I can't do test edits but can show you the replacement regex if needed.

Discussion

I'd suggest to do that with the main account if being a one time (or few times) task. Bot flag plus global OTRS flag or manual abuse filter exemption etc. does not scale for every permissions OTRS agent. If should be sufficient to have it out of RC per autopatrol, and watchlist is no issue here. (The ticket number given above seems to be invalid, btw.) --Krd 09:52, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it could be done for sure, but it is ~800 pictures that will be uploaded, so I don't really want to add that many semi-automatic edits to my (would seems fake). Furthermore, AWB needs the bot flag to work on automatic mode. Bot flag (+eventual OTRS-global and temporary flag) is just a click away --Scoopfinder(d) 10:02, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I.e. the images are to be uploaded yet with the bot account, and you will add the OTRS permission template right away with the upload? --Krd 10:22, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oh maybe I should go further in the details (as long as the Privacy Policy is respected), sorry for not being precise enough.
So, an upload of 800 files will be made by a specific account related to Wikimedia France or the company cited in the ticket or an other user. It will not be done my myself or an OTRS member.
First, can this new account directly add the permission template itself while uploading? I thought not (but might be wrong), so I asked WmFR to come back to me after the upload so that I can add the permission template on all files.
I understand your concerns @Krd: , if you have an other solution (easier, better, more effective, ...) feel free to give me an input on how that should be handled. --Scoopfinder(d) 13:46, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, now understood. The process for this is to create a permission template like for example Template:Miss Lupita project permission with a strict definition classifying the files it applies to. The uploader is then free to include the template directly with the upload, as far as the permission does apply to the individual file. --Krd 16:11, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Great to know, thank you for this process description. I will then work something like that with Wikimedia France via OTRS.
Sorry for the generated bureaucracy and of course, I withdraw the bot flag request and the bot permission. --Scoopfinder(d) 18:34, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
