Discussion
Of course in favor. Trusted user. Multichill (talk) 11:35, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
- Looks like Category:Rijksmonumenten is overfilled already. Is it possible to add image to Rijksmonumenten in location using ID? Please also reflect added category in edit summaries. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:32, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
- Good point, the answer is that this is done automatically by another bot. Rudolphous (talk) 15:55, 5 January 2013 (UTC) Forgot to mention, the category is added to the edit scription. Rudolphous (talk) 18:25, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
- Strong support, very trusted user. @EugeneZelenko: in case you wonder, the other bot as mentioned is User:ErfgoedBot. Trijnsteltalk 16:45, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
- But why not to combine these two bots operations? Sure, both bot owners could run improved code. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:58, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
- User:ErfgoedBot runs every day working on all the images which get uploaded. In this case you're talking about Commons:Monuments database/Categorization. This is all fully automatic without human intervention. No need to worry about crowding Category:Rijksmonumenten.
- In case you haven't noticed, we're uploading about half a million images (see Commons:RCE). This requires a bit more effort to sort this all out. Rudolphous is doing work to identify photos so that the other bot can pick up and semi-automatically moving large batches of images to separate subcategories. Both tasks aren't really suited for ErfgoedBot. Multichill (talk) 21:43, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
- After BWC: I spent much time to select and review the data I can add to the monuments. I use Java as programming language to run the bot. I'm responsible for my edits. ErfgoedBot is a bot that adds subcats and gps information to monuments and is written in python (?). Multichill is responsible for his edits. To combine this two different things would make it really difficult to manage. Rudolphous (talk) 21:48, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
- Is it to location/category data available? In this case you could use it independently. My point it's good idea to avoid unnecessary edits when possible. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:17, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

- I'm fine with the two types of edit being done by separate bots, especially if different users are responsible, and it would be difficult to combine. --99of9 (talk) 23:09, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
Approved. This seems to be uncontroversial. Better not hold this project up any longer as they have a lot of work to do. --Dschwen (talk) 00:35, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
