I've been working on importing election tabular data to Commons for use on English Wikipedia articles. I manually imported 2012-2016 for California, and am now at a level where I would like to bulk import the rest of the data. I'm going to be starting with the MIT Election Lab data (CC-0 licensed). The initial import will create roughly 1000 pages (20 elections times 50 states), and I plan to import additional election data as I find sources and we have templates adapted and ready for use (someone has already asked me about extending this to Canadian elections).   Election data doesn't really fit the Wikidata model, which is more of individual facts, rather than spreadsheet style data. Sure, we could have properties for how many votes a candidate got, but that data is effectively useless because there's (nearly) always at least two people in an election, and unless you know the other person's votes, knowing just one's is useless. There's also some short notes about what data fits in tabular data vs Wikidata at m:DataNamespace#What_about_Wikidata? and mw:Extension:JsonConfig/Tabular.
