Bot's tasks for which permission is being sought: Closing deletion request where all affected files got speedy deleted.

Automatic or manually assisted: Automatic

Edit type (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): continuous

Maximum edit rate (e.g. edits per minute): maxlag

Bot flag requested: (Y/N): N

Programming language(s): Perl

Krdbot currently archives closed deletion requests per Commons:Bots/Requests/Krdbot 2. During this task it can also close deletion requests where all mentioned files are already (speedy) deleted, as there is no point in keeping requests open where decisions are already made. Test edits: Special:Diff/610901735 Special:Diff/610901706

Comment This is already live for some time, and I think I have missed to request approval for this, which has recently been mentioned at User talk:Krdbot#Undocumented purpose: closing deletion requests. I would like to apologise for this and request approval now.

Discussion

Looks OK for me. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:28, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Just to clarify, the bot closes deletion requests where all files have been deleted (speedily or not), as the bot has no way of knowing whether the deletions were speedy. Presumably it would also close deletion requests that mention files that have never existed. Is that right? Brianjd (talk) 05:27, 4 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Correct. --Krd 14:09, 4 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Great, that actually makes more sense than the description given above. Test edits look good to me.
I have a tendency to nitpick. So my next question is: if the files never existed, is it smart enough to write something other than "Deleted"? Brianjd (talk) 14:17, 4 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As you see in the example edits, the name of the deleting admin is linked. So either the closing does only happen if the script can determine the deleting admin (which I couldn't confirm from the code in short time), or I'd get some error message, which until now never happened. I think this is a nonproblem. --Krd 15:00, 4 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The bot has an issue where if comments were made on the DR, it will not close. If not intentional, please fix. 1989 (talk) 02:39, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is intentional, as there may be some kind of objections that should perhaps not pass unnoticed. We can change this if there is positive experience. --Krd 11:53, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If there are no objections, I think task should be approved. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 16:04, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
