Discussion

I would rather use a bot flag when performing tasks with VFC (VisualFileChange) so as not to flood Recent changes.   — Jeff G. ツ 03:51, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Which tasks? --Krd 06:41, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Please add a specific scope to the bot page. 'Anything' is not good at 30 edits per minute and no plan. -- (talk) 09:10, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Jeff G.: Open-ended bot approval is only given to estabilished bot operators and even then, with a goal in mind. Unlike enwiki, we aren't as concerned here about flooding recent changes. Please expand your bot's task to a specific task or this request will be closed. ~riley (talk) 21:32, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • Krd, , and @~riley: VFC-enabled tasks like deletion requests for masses of files, mass cat changes, mass tagging changes, and mass cleanup of mass mistakes come to mind. If you mean that I am allowed to do these things as Jeff G. or JeffGBot without a bot flag, well then JeffGBot doesn't need a bot flag. I can live with that.   — Jeff G. ツ 23:07, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

(Non-bureaucrat observation) Declined: Please use Jeff G. (talk · contribs) to run VFC (VisualFileChange) for any small (less than 1000 edits) short term non-controversial tasks you find. If you come across a long-term or large task, please invite a bot operator to complete the task at Commons:Bots/Work requests or make another bot request for that specific task. Thanks! :) ~riley (talk) 23:17, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
