Discussion

  • Could you please make a test run? --EugeneZelenko 14:32, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • I'd like to, but the only maps I have currently prepared are overwrites of my old Massachusetts maps, and from what I understand I have to wait 4 days before I can do overwrites. I'll try to whip up a few Connecticut maps tonight and do a test run with those. Petros63 17:01, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • Test run complete. I've uploaded 13 files to Maps of Connecticut using the File Upload Script. They are all locator maps of Tolland County towns/cities (Andover, Bolton, Columbia, Coventry, Ellington, Hebron, Mansfield, Somers, Stafford, Tolland, Union, Vernon, and Willington). • Looks fine for me. I could suggest improvements in file name (include state name, complete county word instead of abbreviation). --EugeneZelenko 15:22, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
          • I'm not sure what you mean - the file name is in the format (Town st highlight.png), so the abbreviation is the US postal code for the state, not the county. Petros63 21:00, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
            • Sorry, it's my fault to not interpret it correctly. May be make state code uppercase? --EugeneZelenko 15:28, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
              • Sure, I can make them uppercase, no problem. The Massachusetts ones will probably stay lowercase until I can finagle AWB-access someday. :) Petros63 19:56, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
                • I believe AWB works fine here, last I checked, what do you need? No objections to this bot. Does it NEED the bot flag? (is there an echo in here) ++Lar: t/c 20:46, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
                  • Heh, I mean in en.wiki. I don't have 500 mainspace edits yet, so I keep getting denied. The maps thing is about all I do, but I'm planning on doing a lot more. Last time I uploaded a batch, it was 351 images, and my next batch will be updated versions of those 351 maps, so.. I think a bot flag would be a pretty good idea, to keep Latest Files from getting flooded again. I'm planning to do more for more states. Petros63 22:52, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Any other concerns? FYI, I'm moving the whole map-making operation from PNG to SVG, so now the files will be something in the format like (Andover CT highlight.svg). Petros63 05:12, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm not seeing any... I suggest we close this as approved. But I (as with several current requests) don't necessarily agree you need the bot flag... 350 new maps? that number of changes is not that many. I may be all wet though and welcome input from others. ++Lar: t/c 14:23, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • 350 are only in next batch :-) I hope more batches will follow. And marking PNGs as redundant to SVGs (and nominate them to deletion) are also work for bot. So bot flag is definitely good idea. --EugeneZelenko 14:34, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
