Discussion

Could you please make a test run (5 - 10 files)? --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:42, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please take a look at my discussion in Village pump earlier this week. I had did a test run with 151 images for Category:Designed proteins. Right now, the concern is with over categorization. Once this has been resolved and everyone is in agreement with how these should be categorized, I can start uploading more images. Thanks! DonabelSDSU.bot (talk) 19:58, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Is categorization going to be done solely on the structural level? I take that there are enzymes in that database, so they could be categorized in subcats of Category:Enzymes. Is there any way of doing this? Patrícia msg 21:07, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, categorization will be based on the structural level in the same hierarchy used in the SCOP database. The parent category will be the Class, then subcategories for Folds, Superfamily, Family and Protein Domain. Donabel SDSU (talk) 00:49, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm not sure what you mean by "Continuous and daily", could you please elaborate? Will the bot be running all the time (which seems tough if it's manual) or at a certain time each day, or something else? Giggy (talk) 14:29, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The bot will not be running all the time. I plan to monitor it when it's running and will initially start with batches of 100 images. I expect to run the bot about 1-2 hours each day and maybe 4 hours on the weekends. DonabelSDSU.bot (talk) 19:40, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm excited to get this SCOP project underway and completed asap. Please let me know when the bot flag may be granted. Thank you! DonabelSDSU.bot (talk) 01:49, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The new uploads are not over-categorized right? That was my only objection. Multichill (talk) 22:26, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's right. I modified the script so new uploads will not be over-categorized. DonabelSDSU.bot (talk) 22:46, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Imho you're good to good. By the way, please don't use your bot account for manual editing. Multichill (talk) 01:06, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, I saw Multichill's comment and started to upload 127 new images in Category:Low resolution protein structures. The upload ran smoothly but then I noticed they were being displayed in the "Latest files". Sorry for my impatience and not having the bot flag before I started uploading more images. As you can see, I'm very eager to get these images uploaded in WC as soon as possible. Many thanks for your understanding! Donabel SDSU (talk) 19:15, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
