Discussion

@Krd: I will and get back to you shortly, thanks.--African Hope (talk) 10:32, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Krd: test edits are being carried out now Special:Contributions/CivBot--CivBot (talk) 15:49, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't use the bot account for manual edits like in this request.
Why is being added to the files when it will be included from Wiki Loves Africa 2016 anyway? --Krd 16:25, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Both are for maintenance purpose. @Anthere: , the one who made the task request, could explain better. I did not realize I was connected using the Bot account. Sorry for the inconvenience--African Hope (talk) 17:03, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I am quite a noob when it comes to bots. I was not sure a known bot could add a template. Ideally... we want Wiki Loves Africa 2016 to be added. I only suggested that IF that was not possible, then we should add . if the template is added, it automatically adds the category. So it is not useful to put both. Anthere (talk)
So there is no need to add right?--African Hope (talk) 17:24, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Krd: now the bot adds only the Wiki Loves Africa 2016 template.--African Hope (talk) 18:01, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Looks OK for me. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:01, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Some identical looking edits are marked as minor, some are not. Could you explain how this happens? --Krd 15:14, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Krd: I honestly don't have any clue. I told myself that maybe this was handled by MediaWiki itself.--African Hope (talk) 20:10, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
AFAICT, MediaWiki defaults to your user preferences --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 20:27, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @Zhuyifei1999: , it makes sense now.--African Hope (talk) 01:25, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
African Hope: Does your software support to set the bot flag for your edits, once you got assigned the rights? --Krd 05:59, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Krd: , I am using the Java WikiBot FrameWork and I do not recall such feature. Isn't it done automatically by MediaWiki once the bot flag is assigned to my bot?--African Hope (talk) 18:10, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It isn't done automatically by MediaWiki, you have to set a bot parameter, but i assume the framework is doing that by default. --Steinsplitter (talk) 10:02, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding the test edit: Your bot should use "Bot:" in the edit summary and the template should be added above the categories. --Steinsplitter (talk) 09:56, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Well noted @Steinsplitter: , thanks.--African Hope (talk) 22:40, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please do another small test run. Thank you. --Krd 06:56, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Krd: I am afraid the tests along with the manual edits of volunteers have fixed the images :-) . I am out of items for additional tests. May I use the bot for solving this issue raised on the Work Request page instead? It shows similarities with the original purpose of my bot. --African Hope (talk) 12:02, 15 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
A bit unconventional, but I don't really see anything against. Please continue with small batches. --Krd 17:27, 15 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Krd: for being this open-minded. I have run some tests yesterday and today.--African Hope (talk) 10:20, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Special:Diff/233889996 leaves double cc-by-4.0 and lic review tags, Special:Diff/233911927 even a double Tasnim template. From Special:Diff/233911927 I also don't see how you detect this file for the process at all. Could you put some documentation about your approach on the bot's user page? --Krd 10:37, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes @Krd: I had noticed that too and edited the bot so that there should not be double review or Tasnim tag. You might see it in today tests here and here. But as for the double cc-by-4.0 issue I did not see it. The description has been added to the bot page as you asked.--African Hope (talk) 11:14, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I tend to support this, @EugeneZelenko: what do you think? --Krd 10:51, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Looks OK for me. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:43, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Approved. --Krd 08:31, 22 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
