Discussion

not really. Bot policy made be think I should request this here, or are you referring just to the flag itself and not the request? Chico Venancio (talk) 19:19, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The bot flag is an easy way for contributors to filter bot jobs from recent changes. For uploads that's not a practical issue. If you want an extra account for your upload projects, you can simply start using it.
P.s. just refreshing my mind about the bot help page, I see that uploading is specifically mentioned. I'm actually not sure why. -- (talk) 19:23, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • How many files do you intend to upload? Unless it is a real lot or a complete collection, I'd also say this should be done without bot flag. Feel free to make some test edits anyway if you like to get feedback on file page details. --Krd 07:25, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Krd there are about 2000 books, it will be a bit less then 348521 files (that is the full collection at this point, there a 17 books out of the public domain). Chico Venancio (talk) 21:27, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It could help a lot if you could give a specific link to an example source file, or make a few test uploads. --Krd 08:01, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Krd, source is in deepzoom format but you can see it on the original site. I've downloaded and stitched a few into Toolforge. Chico Venancio (talk) 11:14, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thank you. I was thinking what possible educational use there can be in having them as JPG, compared to perhaps converting the whole book to a single PDF. --Krd 12:12, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The usual issue is PDF size and thumbnail generation by mediawiki. I started creating one for that book, it'll probably be arraound 800mb. Chico Venancio (talk) 13:06, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That upload fails due to size. Chico Venancio (talk) 12:31, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Approved. --Krd 12:31, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
