CamelBot (talk · contribs)

Operator: Lustiger seth (talk · contributions · Statistics · Recent activity · block log · User rights log · uploads · Global account information)

Bot's tasks for which permission is being sought: the bot shall remove tracking information in urls such as ?fbclid=123123123

Automatic or manually assisted: i'd like to start semi-automatic. First, I'd have a look at a dry-run. Then I'd start an auto-mode. After all links are replaced, I might start a more autonomous mode, where the bot views all recent changes. That's what the bot mainly does already in dewiki (however the tasks at dewiki are more numerous).

Edit type (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): see above.

Maximum edit rate (e.g. edits per minute): that's adjustable. by default it's 5 or 6 per minute.

Bot flag requested: (Y/N): the bot has a bot flag in dewiki. So it probably needs a separate flag here, right?

Programming language(s): perl

Discussion

Please do a few test edits. --Krd 07:02, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

could you first deactivate the captchas for user:camelBot? -- seth (talk) 12:37, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
ah, it seems that i just had to wait a few days. now there are no captchas to solve any longer. :-)
you can see some edits in the history of camelbot now: special:contributions/camelBot.
concerning the summaries: i switched to english during the tests. so the summary in future would look like the last 5 edits. -- seth (talk) 18:26, 17 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest to update the bot comments, remove "minor improvement" and the link to the bot page and explain a bit more verbose what is done. (For my old mind "lf" is still linefeed, not linkfix.) Also there is current a mixture of English and German. Besides that, I think this should be speedy approved. --Krd 08:34, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
hi!
  • "minor improvement": deleted
  • link to bot page: isn't that helpful? (i added a section with some information now)
  • lf -> linkfix: done
  • denglish: oops, i forgot to translate "siehe" into "see". done.
thanks for reviewing! -- seth (talk) 22:25, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • more verbosity: done.[1]

The link to the bot page is present anyway nearby the edit summary, so I think it's redundant and perhaps misleading. But anyway, this looks good. Approved. --Krd 05:56, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
