Bot's tasks for which permission is being sought: The bot's purpose will be to count votes in Wikimedia Hungary's picture contest. It's task consists two parts: First, it updates every section with the current score (for example: see this where I removed a testvote), second it generates a result list for every category. The bot code is already used on Hungarian Wikipedia on the voting of first article writing contest by Wikimedia Hungary, you can see these edits here. Bot will run from Toolserver.
Automatic or Manually Assisted: automatic
Edit type (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): continuous, the bot updates if the last edit was at least 5 minutes ago (to prevent edit collisions) and if the last edit did not made by it. 5 minute limit can be set to longer, f.e. 10 or 15 minutes if needed.
Maximum edit rate (eg edits per minute): theoretically maximum 120 per hour, if 5 minute limit is set. In reality, this value is lot lower, especially when many votes come in or no changes made to the page.

Programming Language(s): Own program in C# using DotNetWikiBot.

Discussion
A multilanguage (autotranslate) version of result template will be generated, but as I currently have exams, don't have enough time to do it. It's currently English/Hungarian. Dani (talk) 22:10, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

- No issue. What is the deadline for the voting to start, that is, when do we need to make sure this is approved by? Also are there going to be a lot of edits? if not, maybe the flag isn't needed (we can approve the bot but not flag it if that makes sense) ++Lar: t/c 23:06, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- We have about half hour to start voting, thus deadline is roughly now :). Although the first votes probably will arrive many hours later because of our time zone. Last time the bot made edits in average 15-20 minutes. Here are 5 voting pages, so I appreciate edits in average 3-5 minutes. We thought before our question, that we don't need bot flag for this edits. Maybe you can decide about the flag during its operation. Or we can set the “sleeping parameter” of the bot from 5 minutes to a longer time. Samat (talk) 23:42, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- Urp, we normally like a bit more notice, but it is what it is, I guess. Best I can suggest is, if the contest is running already, just start, but please keep an eye on things. Folk can evaluate the bot's contribs and suggest if a flag should be added or not as we go, I guess. ++Lar: t/c 03:30, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

- It works well (see Special:Contributions/AsgardBot), and it's OK for me to run it w/o botflag (but if it's edits bothers somebody, you should give) Dani (talk) 11:13, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
- The frequency isn't so high that I find it bothersome... so I would tend to not flag it. But others may disagree... let's wait a bit longer then mark this "approved" and either flag it or not as the consensus indicates.
