AdambroBot

Operator: Adambro

Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic supervised

Programming Language(s): AWB

Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): Occasional

Bot flag requested: (Y/N): Y

Functions: Change redirects to other projects that won't work so will appear on Special:BrokenRedirects to use {{Softredirect}} and so ensure that the BrokenRedirects page is a useful tool for finding problem pages. I estimate an initial run of around 450 edits with smaller runs on an occasional basis as neccesery and seek a bot flag so as to not prevent cluttering up recent changes.

Discussion

Can you give us a short run with the ID, not too many, but enough to see what the effect is, (I would think 20 would be plenty?) and point to where we should look in the bot's contribs to see it in action? Thanks. ++Lar: t/c 22:08, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Begun a test run which has highlighted a small problem which I am going to attempt to address. Seems to be related to differences between {{Softredirect}} here and on a number of other WMF project where I've previously done this. Adambro 23:15, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Seems reasonable enough to me, looking at the contribs. Can you do a few that aren't users (no particular reason, just a sanity check)? This does seem like a very straightforward task, and a useful one for housekeeping. Thanks for offering to take this on. ++Lar: t/c 02:04, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've made a run over some non User pages but there really isn't that many. I found five to do. It seems this issue is really concentrated in the user namespace as you'd probably expect with many users having their main account elsewhere. The small problem I encountered in the first run has now been resolved so I'm confident I'll be able to run through the rest of the list without problems although intend to monitor each edit so should be able to deal with any issues. I just don't want to do this without a bot flag for not wanting to clutter recent changes. Adambro 18:30, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No objections per test run. --EugeneZelenko 15:46, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No objections, thank you for your diligence and promptness. ++Lar: t/c 21:14, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
