Universal Language Selector will be enabled by default again on this wiki by 21 February 2014

On January 21 2014 the MediaWiki extension Universal Language Selector (ULS) was disabled on this wiki. A new preference was added for logged-in users to turn on ULS. This was done to prevent slow loading of pages due to ULS webfonts, a behaviour that had been observed by the Wikimedia Technical Operations team on some wikis.

We are now ready to enable ULS again. The temporary preference to enable ULS will be removed. A new checkbox has been added to the Language Panel to enable/disable font delivery. This will be unchecked by default for this wiki, but can be selected at any time by the users to enable webfonts. This is an interim solution while we improve the feature of webfonts delivery.

Call for project ideas: funding is available for community experiments

Do you have an idea for a project that could improve your community? Individual Engagement Grants from the Wikimedia Foundation help support individuals and small teams to organize experiments for 6 months. You can get funding to try out your idea for online community organizing, outreach, tool-building, or research to help make Wikimedia Commons better. In March, we’re looking for new project proposals.

Changes to the default site typography coming soon

This week, the typography on Wikimedia sites will be updated for all readers and editors who use the default "Vector" skin. This change will involve new serif fonts for some headings, small tweaks to body content fonts, text size, text color, and spacing between elements. The schedule is:

  • April 1st: non-Wikipedia projects will see this change live
  • April 3rd: Wikipedias will see this change live

This change is very similar to the "Typography Update" Beta Feature that has been available on Wikimedia projects since November 2013. After several rounds of testing and with feedback from the community, this Beta Feature will be disabled and successful aspects enabled in the default site appearance. Users who are logged in may still choose to use another skin, or alter their personal CSS, if they prefer a different appearance. Local common CSS styles will also apply as normal, for issues with local styles and scripts that impact all users.

Letter petitioning WMF to reverse recent decisions

The Wikimedia Foundation recently created a new feature, "superprotect" status. The purpose is to prevent pages from being edited by elected administrators -- but permitting WMF staff to edit them. It has been put to use in only one case: to protect the deployment of the Media Viewer software on German Wikipedia, in defiance of a clear decision of that community to disable the feature by default, unless users decide to enable it.

If you oppose these actions, please add your name to this letter. If you know non-Wikimedians who support our vision for the free sharing of knowledge, and would like to add their names to the list, please ask them to sign an identical version of the letter on change.org.

Process ideas for software development

Change in renaming process

Part or all of this message may be in English. Please help translate if possible.

Single-user login (SUL) finalisation's goal is so that every Wikimedia editor has a single, recognized global account with one username across all projects. As you may know, after a long delay, it's now underway as an effort between bureaucrats, stewards, and Wikimedia Foundation engineers. This will also allow for development of cross-wiki tools like global notifications and watchlists. There is no set date for the completion of single-user login finalization at this time.

The process involves changing all rename processes into one global renaming process. The ability for local bureaucrats to rename users on this wiki will be turned off on Monday, 15 September 2014, as one of the first steps. Global renamers are in the process of being created to make sure projects and languages are represented by the time this occurs. I sent a note to every bureaucrat about this process three weeks ago with an invitation to participate and many have begun requesting to be a part of the group. Together with the stewards, the global renamers will be empowered to help editors work through the often difficult process of getting a global name.

In parting, visit Special:MergeAccount to unify your account if you have never done so. If your local pages about renaming still need to be updated, please do so and consider pointing people to m:SRUC for future rename requests, especially if this project does not have bureaucrats that hold global renamer permissions. 국방시설관련

Category:Military facilities of Republic of Korea Army에 군사시설관련(일반인은 허가 없이 출입불가)의 사진이 있지만 국방상 문제는 없습니까? 사진기의 메이커도 한국이나 일본 아니고 한국에선 낯선 중국 메이커인데..--hyolee2/H.L.LEE (talk) 06:26, 11 October 2014 (UTC)

첨언하자면, 국방상의 이유는 우리가 신경 쓸 바도 아니고 (뭐 대한민국 정부에서 수사를 하든 말든 저희가 알 바 아니고) 저희가 그걸 이유로 지금 파일을 삭제할 필요도 없어 보이네요. (정말 문제가 있다면 Office action을 밟아서 재단을 통해 처리하겠죠) — revimsg 10:22, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

Meta RfCs on two new global groups

Hello all,

There are currently requests for comment open on meta to create two new global groups. The first is a group for members of the OTRS permissions queue, which would grant them autopatrolled rights on all wikis except those who opt-out. That proposal can be found at m:Requests for comment/Creation of a global OTRS-permissions user group. The second is a group for Wikimedia Commons admins and OTRS agents to view deleted file pages through the 'viewdeletedfile' right on all wikis except those who opt-out. We would like to hear what you think on both proposals. Both are in English; if you wanted to translate them into your native language that would also be appreciated.

It is possible for individual projects to opt-out, so that users in those groups do not have any additional rights on those projects. To do this please start a local discussion, and if there is consensus you can request to opt-out of either or both at m:Stewards' noticeboard.

Wiki loves monuments

최근 전세계적으로 Wiki loves monuments 행사가 열리고 있죠. 전에 한국에서도 위키백과, 정동을 찍다 행사가 열린적이 있었는데요, 올해는 따로 행사는 열리지 않지만, 날씨 좋은 가을날, 각자 카메라를 들고 사진이 필요한 문서들을 골라 사진 사냥(photo hunting)을 해보는 것은 어떨까요? 저는 오늘 성북구의 사찰과 정릉을 들러서 사진을 찍어 기여해보았답니다.[1]--Gapo (talk) 09:46, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

티스토리에서 올려진 사진들의 CCL 버전에 대한 의문

안녕하세요? 최근 티스토리의 "와사비콘텐츠"(http://wasabcon.tistory.com/) 사이트의 한국 연예인들 사진들이 다량으로 올라온 것을 발견하였습니다. 그런데 적용된 라이선스에 의문이 생겼습니다. 올리신 분이 라이선스를 cc-by-3.0으로 적용하셨던데 이게 정확한가 입니다. (참고: File:IU_at_K-collection_in_Seoul,_11_March_2012_01.jpg, File:Miss_A_at_Severance_Hospital,_5_December_2013_(2).jpg 외 다수). 해당 티스토리 사이트에서 정확한 CCL 버전을 확인할 수 없으나 티스토리에서 지원하는 CCL 버전은 CCL 2.0 KR이 아닌가 싶습니다. 왜냐하면 CCL 3.0이상이 적용된 티스토리 자료는 발견되지 않고, 위 와사비콘텐츠 사이트의 해당 사진이 있는 페이지의 소스코드에서 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-fr/2.0/kr/ 등의 문구가 발견되며, 티스토리에 최근(2013년 12월 3일)에 올려진 자료([2])도 CCL 2.0 KR을 사용하고 있으며, CCL 2.0까지만 한국화된 버전이 있는 것으로 알고 있기 때문입니다. 더불어 비슷한 방식을 사용하는 네이버 블로그([3])도 CCL 2.0 KR을 사용하고 있습니다. 그렇다면 해당 와사비콘텐츠 사이트의 사진들을 cc-by-3.0이 아닌 cc-by-2.0-kr로 올려야 하는게 아닌지요? 그렇지 않다면 cc-by-2.0-kr로 된 자료는 cc-by-3.0으로 표시하고 올려도 아무런 문제가 없는지요? --Leedkmn (talk) 02:39, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

일단 티스토리 자체에서는 라이선스의 버전에 대해 명시하지 않고 있으며, http://visualstyle-art.tistory.com/ 의 자료는 해당 블로그 한정입니다. 해당 블로그 주인에게 버전에 대한 문의, 혹은 티스토리를 운영하는 다음 커뮤니케이션 측에 라이선스의 버전에 대한 문의를 해야 할 것으로 보입니다. —레비Revi 03:04, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
제가 웹을 상당히 검색해 봤는데 티스토리의 CCL은 티스토리 사이트에서 환경설정을 통해 자체적으로 지원하는 기능으로 허용 여부만 선택할 수 있지 버전을 선택할 수 있는 기능은 없는 걸로 보입니다. http://visualstyle-art.tistory.com/ 도 해당 블로그에서 자체적으로 CCL을 이용한 것이 아니고 티스토리에서 지원하는 CCL 지원 기능을 통해 이용한 것입니다. 제가 직접 티스토리 사이트에 가입해서 확인해 보려 했으나 초대장이 있어야 가입할 수 있는 시스템이어서 직접 확인은 불가하여 다음 고객센터에 질의를 남겨보았습니다. 다음측에서 답변을 준다면 다시 글을 남기겠습니다. --Leedkmn (talk) 03:44, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

티스토리 자체 기능으로 CCL을 설정하는 경우에는 라이선스 유형(By-SA, By-NC 등등)만 설정하고 버전을 설정할 수는 없습니다. 티스토리에 계정이 있어서 확인해 본 비 그러합니다. --콩가루 (talk) 12:44, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

이미 같은 문제를 제기하신 분이 계셨군요. 저도 Puramyun31님 의견과 같이 티스토리의 CCL 버전은 2.0 kr이 맞다고 봅니다. 이는 네이버도 마찬가지입니다. 방금 네이버 블로그의 CCL 설정에 들어가니 위에 콩가루님이 말씀하신 티스토리의 경우와 마찬가지로 버전을 고르는 기능은 없었으며, 글을 작성하고 우측 하단에 생성된 CCL 아이콘을 누르니 2.0 kr로 연결되었습니다. 이렇게 된 원인은 아마도 한국화된 버전이 2.0까지 밖에 없어서 그런것 같습니다(http://creativecommons.org/choose/ 에서 Looking for earlier license versions, including ports?를 선택후 라이선스 관할을 대한민국으로 바꾸면 2.0으로 버전이 바뀜을 확인할 수 있음).
다음측에서는 결론만 말씀드리면 오늘도 답변이 없었습니다. 답변이 없길래 아까 오후 5시40분경 고객센터로 직접 전화를 해 보았습니다(1577-3321). 상담하시는 분께 얘기했더니 아이디와 이름을 물어보고 제 질의를 긴급으로 바꿔주시겠다고 하였고, 약 50분 후 아래와 같은 실망스런 답변이 왔습니다. 담당자 이름은 성을 제외하고 X표시하였습니다.
