These common language definitions don't mention
- Creative Visualization
- Data visualization
- Educational visualization
- Flow visualization
- Geovisualization
- Information visualization
- Interactive visualization
- Music visualization
- Product visualization
- Scientific visualization
- Software visualization
But these are the subjects this category is specifically meant for in the first place. In science the term "visualization" also has an broad meaning, simply:
- Visualization is the formation of visual images. It is the act or process of interpreting in visual terms or of putting into visual form.

- I think that the Commons tries to follow the standard meanings as defined by standard dictionaries. All of the items on the list would be visualizations according to the standard definition since they are all visualizations. See definition number 2 in the 2008 Merriam Webster online dictionary:

- In most cases, yes. Otherwise we do the best we can in trying to figure out what is the most common definition from the various definitions in standard dictionaries. This helps users of the commons in finding stuff. Since users of the commons are not all native speakers of English they need us to use the most common definitions. --Timeshifter (talk) 18:12, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
