COM:FOP Norway is not valid for commercial use of images of still copyrighted works of art, even if placed in public places. --Túrelio (talk) 23:16, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gustav Vigeland died in march 1943, so copyright is expired according to the 70 year rule. Norwegian copyright law § 24 also states that reproduction (freedom of panorama) is not allowed for commercial purposes: >>Works of art and photographic works may also be depicted when they are permanently located in or near a public place or thoroughfare. However, this shall not apply when the work is clearly the main motif and the reproduction is exploited commercially. Buildings may be freely depicted.<< Sorry last part not relevant for WP. --Erik den yngre (talk) 14:14, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright issues on park and statues[edit]

A discussion as to the copyright on images of this park took place here. - Themightyquill (talk) 16:48, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A message on Norwegian Wikipedia says the "Vigeland is now legal on Commons", where can I find more info on this? --Erik den yngre (talk) 18:39, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Numerous previously deleted files have now been restored, since it is more than 70 years since Vigeland died. Most of them can be found in Category:Vigelandsanlegget. - 4ing (talk) 21:47, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that many (if any) of these are actually PD in the USA. - Themightyquill (talk) 23:43, 15 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There has been a long discussion on Norwegian Wikipedia about how US copyright laws can be applied to Vigeland sculptures. Still a bit complicated this case. --Erik den yngre (talk) 12:54, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
