Is it about the PD license or the public domain more broadly?

[edit]

@Gildir: you removed the category from these files and probably some more: 1, 2, 3, 4 and also made Videos of films by language a subcategory here. I don't object to that but there's an issue that this cat may be about the PD license, not the public domain more broadly which also includes creative commons licenses. Some files in Videos of films by year‎ and many files in Category:Documentary videos‎ do not have a PD license but a CC one. Here another user wrote the name of the category is wrong and misleading, even with the extended category description. A file licensed under Creative Commons is copyrighted but never in the public domain. So this needs some clarification and possibly some changes.

For example the category could be split, moved, or just get some info added at the top. What do you think?

Moreover, if it seems to be missing Category:Films from Archive.org and the Documentary videos cat needs some cleanup – lots of videos in there aren't documentaries and not even mini-documentaries which probably shouldn't be intermingled with full-length documentaries in the very same cat either. I think many should be moved to Category:Explanatory videos or another similar category. Prototyperspective (talk) 11:25, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
