Wanted: people with identification skills[edit]

I have a few dozen pictures taken here in Portugal that I'm uploading to WC. Most are plants. I don't own a Flora and have no experience in plant ID; I'm a birdwatcher, so I am used to identifying living beings from a universe at least 25 times smaller! I have consulted a few books, but I don't think my IDs are reliable. What is the best way to address this problem?

  1. I upload them as they are to WC, and then wait for someone to see if the ID is correct. If not, then I re-upload the file with the correct name and ask for deletion of the old file. A not very clean job, I think.
  2. Someone somehow sees my pictures before I upload them. I may either e-mail them to the volunteer botanists, or put them in my personal web site.

Which do you think is best? Thanks in advance. -- Tintazul 15:35, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
