Dear users and admins, the vexed question about the freedom of panorama in Italy needs to be revisited in the light of the new laegislation that entered into force in 2014. The new provisions carry out a substantial, if partial, liberalization. Indeed, with decree 31 May 2014, n.83, it is now possible to take pictures of artpieces as well as landscapes and buildings and share them on the internet for non profit purpose. At least, this is the most common interpretation of the decree (a very technical one, that amends a lot of small pieces of a previous law enterd into force in 2004). Unfortunately, everything related to the issue is available only in Italian language. But the Italian wiki is packed with pictures that are allowed under the new legislation.--Conte di Cavour (talk) 17:15, 9 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for this information. However, it doesn't help for Commons, as our policy requires that images are also free for commercial use (COM:L). --Túrelio (talk) 18:20, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
