Please do not speedy-delete unmodified UN maps[edit]

I have this talk page on my watchlist. So if people link here to unmodified UN maps, then I and others can remove the UN info from UN maps in less than a week. See also: Help:Removing watermarks. It has info on how to remove things like UN info, etc. from images. --Timeshifter (talk) 15:01, 21 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

UN releases certain maps only if the UN logos, UN info, and UN reference numbers are removed[edit]

Please see discussion at Commons:Deletion requests/Template:PD-UN-map. Except for the comments of the sockpuppet/meatpuppets Oompahloompah2016 and Sigmabaroda. See their user pages for more info on their sockpuppet status.

The maps in question use Template:PD-UN-map. The template now categorizes those maps in the hidden category Category:Derivatives of UN maps. Per admin Christian Ferrer comment at Commons:Deletion requests/Template:PD-UN-map.

There seem to be some UN maps that can be used on the Commons without removing the UN info. See Category:Maps by United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Those maps use this template: Template:OCHA map. I haven't thoroughly examined the history of that template, and so I don't know enough about its validity. See Template talk:OCHA map for more info. --Timeshifter (talk) 13:59, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
