merge with Category:Lokum?[edit]
Perhaps this category should be merged and redirected to Category:Lokum. Seems a different name for the same thing. -- Infrogmation of New Orleans (talk) 23:52, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Infrogmation: I was going by the enwiki article Turkish delight. What is the need to put all in one category when uploads from Turkey and signs in markets call it by the enwiki article name? - @Krok6kola: Well, First, Commons is not en:w; we're media for projects in all languages. Looking at Wikipedias in different languages, there seems to be a mix of some that use terms that translate as "Turkish delight", while other languages use "Lokum" and variations on "Lokum". Second, as explained here and en:w, "Lokum" is also what it is called in Turkey, so calling it by its Turkish name does not "deprive Turkey" of anything. Third - two names for the same thing, no? If you can make an argument that they are not the same thing, and therefore need two different terms, two different categories would make sense. As far as I can see, they are the same thing, so should be consolidated - we even have some media currently in *both* categories, which seems an argument that the two cats are redundant. Other thoughts? Shall we list this on Categories for discussion for further input from others? Cheers, -- 01:04, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

- @Krok6kola: I think this should be redirected to existing used category Lokum. We should not have two different category names for the same thing. Do you concur?
