The name Tuber cibarium is obsolete[edit]

Tuber cibarium is not a modern name, but only of historical importance. This reference shows that it is equivalent to the modern species Tuber melanosporum. Also the entry for Tuber in Species Fungorum shows that this is not a current name (current names are in green; in some cases the list gives equivalents, but not in this case). Also a Google search for "tuber cibarium" shows that it was used in old documents but not in modern ones.

It is not a good idea to make categories for all the old names of fungi; that would be very confusing. It would mean that the same species appears with many names, and it would make searching difficult.

This category should be replaced by a category redirect to "Category:Tuber melanosporum", and the content should be transferred there.
