Category:Trent > Category:Trento

I don't understand why Category:Trento was substituted by Category:Trent. The city is called Trento both in English and in in Italian. (It is called Trent in older English, Trènt in dialect, Trient in German and Trënt in ladin).
Category:Trento was emptied and deleted on 10 February 2007. I asked an admin (in IRC) if there was any explanations for that in the deleted revisions, but there was none. I believe the category (and the subcategories) should be renamed. Any objection? --Jaqen 23:06, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

en:Trento says: "Trento or, in older English usage, Trent is...". Why should we prefer older English?

It is Trento, e.g., also on Encarta and BBC. If you search for Trent most of the time you find other things: (River Trent, Stoke-on-Trent, etc.) --Jaqen 00:09, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

It's "Council of Trent", not "Council of Trento" [1], Trento would be Italian not English. Gryffindor 01:46, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

As I said (quoting from en:Trento) in older English usage Trento was called Trent. In the 16th century, when the Council of Trent took place, it was called Trent. The Council is still known with its original name. For the same reason I didn't move Bishopric of Trent, Prince-bishops of Trent and Simon of Trent: they are historical name.
The Catholic Encyclopedia was completed in 1914, so the fact that it uses the name Trent is not in conflict with the fact that the present English usage is Trento. --Jaqen 12:35, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
