Category talk:Technical illustrations
Subcategories[edit]
At the moment this category contains nine subcategories:
- Category:Historical technical illustrations (2 C, 22 F)
And:
- Category:Automobile illustrations (4 C, 76 F)
- Category:Electrical schemas (24 C, 45 F) E cont.
- Category:Engineering drawing (5 C, 4 F)
- Category:Technology symbols (11 C, 14 F)
- Category:Technical diagrams (10 C, 1 P, 61 F)
- Category:Technical drawings (8 C, 1 P, 22 F) T cont.
- Category:Technical models (8 C)
- Category:Turning process illustrations (9 F)
I wonder however if
- Engineering drawing
- Technology symbols
- Technical diagrams
- Technical drawings, and
- Technical models
Are generally considered technical illustrations...!? It seems to me they are more concurrent cats

Skipp concurrened cats and add specialized cats[edit]
If we skipp these concurrent cats we there remain:
- Category:Historical technical illustrations (2 C, 22 F)
- Category:Automobile illustrations (4 C, 76 F)
- Category:Turning process illustrations (9 F)
Now I think there are several cats, which could be add:
First there are a lot of specialized fields like the Category:Automobile illustrations which could be created such as:
- Category:Spacecraft illustrations (I have just created it as a test)
However most of those cats are already listed in the Category:Technical drawings by theme
- Category:Aircraft drawings
- Category:Architectural drawings
- Category:Automobiles line drawings
- Category:Drawings of light bulbs
- Category:Gun drawings
- Category:Machine element drawings
- Category:Mechanical fits
- Category:Microscope drawings
- Category:Patent drawings
- Category:Roller coaster drawings
- Category:Ship Line Drawings
- Category:Steam engine drawings
- Category:Steampunk drawings
- Category:Thread drawings
Those cats consists both technical drawings and technical illustrations. This is just a matter of where you want to make a difference, based on which criterea.
And second. There are also several cats for specific types of technical drawings, such as:
- Category:3D drawings
- Category:Assembly drawings
- Category:Cutaway diagrams
- Category:Exploded views
- Category:General arrangements
- Category:Illustrations with numbers
- Category:Patent drawings
All of those cats contain tecnical illustrations as well.
Proposal[edit]
What I would like to propose is
- skipp these concurrent cats here, or not
- and link them in a see also section, or not
- add the Category:Technical drawings by theme here
- create a category technical drawing by type and add this here.
