Normally you have to make a difference between Slums and Shantytowns (or Informal settlements) - most of the pictures in this category will show informal settlements. In a strict sense most dwellings in the "third world" which are built without planning or selforganized are Shantytowns - so this cat should be renamed (well known are favelas in Brazil and pueblos jovenes in Peru). I do not know good and exact examples of Slums.
