The federal state of Germany "Rheinland-Pfalz" has its official name in German and as the article Rheinland-Pfalz of Wikimedia Commons uses the german name, so should do this Category of Wikimedia Commons (having redirections from the English and other translations of the name to Category:Rheinland-Pfalz).

Should it be Category:Rheinland-Pfalz according to the name of the state or has it to be Category:Rhineland-Palatinate according to its English translation?

There is a discussion about this (partly in German) on the page Category_talk:Hesse.
