several thousand ISS images some days

[edit]

@Olybrius: You created the Category:Photographs by day, @GT1976: You created the Category talk:Photographs by day

@XRay, Z thomas, Aristeas, Laserlicht, and J.-H. Janßen: @Geoprofi Lars, Qwertz1894, and Mateus2019: @Strakhov, Rudolphous, Blackcat, Infrogmation, and MB-one: To take note of for further feedback.

Problem: On many days there are many pictures of the "International Space Station" ("ISS"). These files are usually "ISS..."-named. If there are several thousand ISS images some days, this makes it difficult to sort the other images by country from the letter "I" and you have to click several pages with 200 images each to be able to sort further, as these alphabetically sorted

  • 0-9,
  • A-H,
  • "ISS..." (on many days several thousand ISS images),
  • J-Z

Proposal: In this regard, I propose to create subcategories for "ISS" images by day, analogous to the subcategories for countries, so that thousands of ISS pictures do not end up in the main category, but are already sorted further. Is the assignment of the "ISS images" done with a bot? Would that be easy to set up?

What should the subcategory be? for example

[edit]
  • ISS photographs by date
    • ISS photographs by year
    • ISS photographs taken on YYYY-MM-DD?

It makes sense, also because we can't categorize those photographs by any country on Earth, having them been taken by an international space station floating far above the world. -- Blackcat 10:22, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
