Shouldn't we remove the template since the location should only come from Wikidata? --Arnd 🇺🇦 (talk) 20:29, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

For sub-categories that use the {{Wikidata Infobox}}, I would agree. It's just unnecessary duplication. I would not agree for files, but all 3 files that were in this category manually added this category and were just fixed by me; so it's a non-issue for now. However, prior to making that change, a bit of a broader discussion might be needed. Removal of information from Commons due to Wikidata information is a sensitive topic. --Schlurcher (talk) 12:52, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Schlurcher, actually my ArndBot performs cleanups (e. g. [1]) by removing lots of information (mostly categories) that then come from Wikidata. Where do you think a discussion is required, in Commons:Village pump? --Arnd 🇺🇦 (talk) 14:27, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I may be over-interpreting the feedback received on Commons:Bots/Requests/SchlurcherBot11 and this may be specific to information from files that then got copied over to SDC (so where the file information is the source). However, this seems in scope of your bot, so an alternative may well be to just start with this very slowly to give people time to react on the edits. --Schlurcher (talk) 08:45, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Schlurcher, thank you for pointing me to the discussion. However, i see the (hopefully important) difference that this is about categories and not files. So my hope is that maybe most of the mentioned arguments there are not important for here. I think i will give it a try a little later this year and see how the reaction are. Wish me luck ;-) --Arnd 🇺🇦 (talk) 13:27, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
