Category talk:Mount Bunagatake

Requested move

Hi, A few days ago Yasu had requested this category be moved from Mount Bunagatake to "Mount Buna" [1], However having no idea of the Mountain I searched on Google - "Mount Bunagatake" gets alot of results[2] whereas "Mount Buna" gets all irreverent results[3] so I declined it for that reason,
I'd rather not move categories if they're not the official name and or could cause more confusion and as no one really knows the name this is a hard one,
There's currently a discussion on my talkpage here
I'm pinging those who I've spotted renaming in the move log - Krassotkin, Wieralee, Steinsplitter, DCB
I have no objections if anyone wants to move it (and If there's evidence "Mount Buna" is the official name then I'll happily move it myself) however I'd rather it was discussed first incase "Mount Buna" could be wrong,

Well seeing as no one's going to fucking bother replying I'm just going to decline it per my reasonings on the talkpage as well as above, I had hoped we could reach some sort of conclusion but clearly not so declined. –Davey2010^Talk 23:26, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

• @Yasu & @Davey2010: A good practice is to use geographical names from official maps in the target language. I do not have official maps in English for this region, but I can look informal. For example, Google map says "Mt. Bunagatake". We should not change a good name until we do not have strong evidences for a new one. --sasha (krassotkin) 06:25, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

 Info Recently, the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI) released rules for translating Japanese geographical names into English. According to the rules, mountain names in Japan are to be translated as "Mount XXX" for XXX-yama, XXX-san or XXX-dake, instead of "Mount XXX-yama" or whatsoever. Although the rules doesn't mention whether the term "Mount Buna" itself is official one, any rules issued by GSI should have "official" status as GSI is the sole national institution responsible for mapping the national land of Japan.
