More subcategories[edit]

We currently have subcategories for en, fr, de and nl of which the two last ones could be emptied in a big effort. Category:Language templates with no text displayed with currently 12,000 files is too big to work efficiently using scripts such as VisualFileChange or pywikipedia. I suggest the creation of a few additional subcategories, namely the ones with most transclusions: es, it, ja, pl, ru, zh. Firstly, if a file is in such a subcategory it is known more precisely what needs to be fixed. Secondly, we may get help by Commons users of those languages. --Leyo 13:13, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done. However one might expect few days or even weeks for those categories to fill up. --Jarekt (talk) 16:42, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the agreement and implementation. Yes, this will probably be the case. To speed up all files in Category:Language templates with no text displayed might be touched by a bot. --Leyo 17:03, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Less subcategories[edit]

Can we get rid of the subcategories now. Or keep only 4-5 most common ones? --Jarekt (talk) 03:45, 5 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There seem to be still many legacy cases around (examples 1, 2 that were in the category today, but they have not been edited for > 1 year). When a template that is transcluded to thousands of file pages is changed next time, there might be many files in the (sub)category/ies. I would prefer to keep them for a while. And I would prefer to keep the en and the de subcategories anyway. --Leyo 09:13, 5 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK. --Jarekt (talk) 12:24, 5 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
We might consider “the while” to be over. ;-) --Leyo 14:43, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
