Merge[edit]
This should be merged with Category:Lights - while there may be fine points of difference, the issue is that most people won't realise it, and search (or categorise) wrongly. Ingolfson (talk) 07:36, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- As the term lamp confuses light bulbs (Category:Light bulbs) and light fixtures (Category:Lighting fixtures, Category:Lighting devices) in English, German and French this category should probably either be made a redirect to Category:Light-generating objects or a disambiguation page such as the Category:Lights. Alternatively, I guess, a redirect to en:Category:Lights as suggested above would serve the same purpose.
- It should maybe also be decided whether Category:Light fixtures is a sub-category of Category:Lighting devices or are both mostly used synonymously and could be merged as well?
- @Ingolfson, W like wiki, Explicit, Joostik, Lx 121, Neo-Jay, Rhadamante, Grzexs, Bohème, Lionel Allorge, ArwinJ, W!B:, Stepa, Foroa, WikipediaMaster, Jmabel, G.dallorto, Aiko, and Ranveig: Any opinions on this?

- Looking for inspiration on en.wiki cats like Category:Types of lamp seems a smart idea. In the Netherlands for instance we use the word 'lamp' for design lamps, never armatuur/armaturen (fixture) (see nl:Lamp), as we prefer the word 'stoel' for a design chair to fauteuil (armchair). - Aiko (talk) 07:12, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
