As this category got pretty crowded, I created sub-categories based on divisions/neighborhoods of the city.

While many are fairly obvious and generally accepted, other boundries and names are disagreed on by some New Orleanians. I welcome feedback on the best way to do this.

I'm particularly dissatisfied with "Marlyville Fountainbleau Gerttown", a mouthfull from a city planning commission map that I've never heard anyone actually say. I've otherwise avoided the planning commission names-- though perhaps they're the closest to "official" neighborhood names and boundries designated by the city, some are simply not used by people who live in them or used meaning quite different boundries. Where there might be potential misunderstanding, I've included the definition I'm using at the category. -- Infrogmation 22:24, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

On reflection, I've deleted that awkward "Marlyville etc" category name. I've moved most of the images to a "Calhoun Street" subcat, and the rest back to this cat. -- Infrogmation

London Avenue Canal/Filmore/Fillmore Area[edit]

The photos of the area around the London Avenue Canal breeches needs a sub-cat. Even city gov't sources seem to disagree if the neighborhood's official name is "Filmore" or "Fillmore"... I'm tempted to just call it "London Avenue Canal area" for the purposes of photos at and around the breaches, as I suspect that's what most folks would be looking for. Other thoughts, suggestions?

Also, pix of the area right behind the 17th Street Canal breach are in the West End subcat. -- Infrogmation 01:18, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
