Hamtramck is known as a destination of immigrants. The Hamtramck Public Schools has speakers of: Bengali, Arabic, Bosnian, Polish, and Albanian

  • Bengalis have become the biggest immigrant group
  • The large Yemeni population makes Arabic important
  • Some Bosnians are also in the city
  • Hamtramck was historically a major destination of Polish immigration. The number of Poles has declined, but there are still some Poles in the city, and there is historical interest from those in Poland
  • Some immigrants are from Albania
