Files should be moved to subcategories where appropriate[edit]
Images remain in the category "European Southern Observatory Images" (tagged "Hidden Category"), even when I assign a sub-sub-category to them, as the hidden category can't be removed. Example:
- File:3,6-m Telescope at La Silla.jpg
- Path: "Category:European Southern Observatory Images" > "Category:La Silla Observatory" > "Category:ESO 3.6-m Telescope"
To most users with (just) basic knowledge this doesn't make sense -- Rfassbind (talk) 10:08, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
European Southern Observatory Images[edit]
This category contains all files categorized with ESO template. Some variable characters can be used directly into this template to categorize into sub-categories. --ComputerHotline (talk) 07:29, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
DSS/DSS2 images[edit]
I've noticed a number of images from the Digital Sky Surveys being added as "ESO images" and hence under a creative commons license. I'm not an expert on image copyright, but DSS copyrights are here and it doesn't appear they are free to use. Lithopsian (talk) 14:06, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
