Question

[edit]

Could someone please tell me what the difference is between "equestrian statues" and "equestrian sculptures"? Skeezix1000 (talk) 12:01, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On the same point, how does Category:Statues of riders differ from the above two, if at all? --Skeezix1000 (talk) 13:19, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Although you wouldn't necessarily know it from the category content, Category:Statues of riders would appear to be intended for statues of persons riding animals other than horses (e.g. bulls). --Skeezix1000 (talk) 13:38, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting question. Especially given the category content. --  Docu  at 10:51, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'd forgotten that I'd left this note.

The only type of equestrian sculpture that I can think of that is not an equestrian statue is Category:Equestrian reliefs. Otherwise, unless I am missing something, it appears that all of the content in Category:Equestrian sculptures belongs in the appropriate subcategories of Category:Equestrian statues. Given what a mess this is (and it always will be, no matter how many times the content gets reconciled), I'd almost be inclined to redirect Category:Equestrian sculptures to Category:Equestrian statues, or better yet set it up as a DAB page containing Category:Equestrian statues and Category:Equestrian reliefs. Seems like a drastic solution. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 18:25, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

In the meantime, I did some cleaning up in this category.
I think we could have sculpture with subcategories "relief" and "statue". Some content might go into "sculptures of horses". There are a few where the rider isn't sitting on the horse. Maybe they should go there too. --  Docu  at 03:40, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Another question: what goes into "equestrian bronzes" compared to "equestrian statues"? For now, I added all from "bronzes" that should also be in "statues" there. --  Docu  at 03:40, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
