Editing method & edit page advisory notices[edit]

I noticed that the capitalizations of titles of infoboxes and of the word "Catholic" varied widely, as did the treatment of some similar issues. I clicked Edit at the top of a page for the cathedral at Nantes, France, and it seemed that the information in that infobox is contained in Wikidata, which is a good thing long-term.

However, it left me wondering what to do. (I should mention that I edit the source wikitext and not through the visual editor, and I did not try using the visual editor either, as I'm already over editing for myself for the day and I am not sure of where the style sheet would be.) So, I'm posting this here (copy-and-paste it to a better place please!) in the hopes that eventually somebody will:

  • put an editing notice at the top of pages (like the disambiguation Edit pages on en.Wikipedia) explaining the pluses and minuses of editing via both methods and how to do so,
  • explain how to find out which style guides would apply for each language, and
  • fix the English language pages for French cathedrals so that the term "Catholic" along with any other style issues that differ between French & English are noted and corrected.

Sorry that I have to leave this data dump here, but my real-life limitations are getting in the way of me doing anything more. I thank you in advance. —Geekdiva (talk) 03:50, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
