Category talk:BT2D Dauntless II
Should this be folded into the AD-1?[edit]
Cobatfor (talk · contribs) recently remarked to me: "I think that the "BT2D Dauntless II" designation is misleading. All aircraft that were ever accepted under this designation were quickly redesignated XAD-1 or AD-1. The category gives the impression, that this were different aircraft, which is wrong." I of couse agree with his assessment that the name was only used during the initial development and prototype stages, and production was under the AD-1 designation. The prototypes were redesignated as well. However, I do not think it is necessarily inappropriate to have this category to contain media specific to the time where the aircraft was still under the BT2D designation. There is sufficient description on the category to alleviate concerns about it being misleading as it is clearly stated how the redesignation applies. I do not have a problem going either way on this one. Petebutt (talk · contribs) originally created the category, so I am interested to hear their opinion on this as well.
