Move proposal[edit]
Oppose: - As no rationale for moving the category was given, I see nothing wrong with the current name. Commons generally uses the English name, which is always "Israeli Air Force". or "IDF/Air Force" in a few cases, - BillCJ (talk) 05:05, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
This move request is simply a change to respect Commons naming conventions:
- we avoid as far as possible prefixes like American, French, Israeli but use of/from the United States, France, Israel as this avoids many conflicts, disambiguation and naming difficulties
- we use as much as possible the same and consistent way of naming categories as can be seen in Category:Air force by country
- translated "English names" or so called "official translations" have no priority over the Commons naming rules
- The official name of the air force of Israel could be translated as Israeli Air Force, IAF, Air and Space arm, Air corps, Air force of Israel ...
- Commons uses no title case, so in the case that "Israel Air Force" name would be preferred, it should be "Israel air force"
