 Comment Couple of things:

• The Commons policy is to follow what is easily understandable to most English readers. It's worth noting that on en-wiki, en:Aaron Gordon points to the basketball player and the Zionist philosopher is at en:A. D. Gordon (thanks for moving the Commons cat btw). If either category should supersede the other, it's the basketball player category.
• "Aaron Addison Gordon" is not a COMMONNAME for the basketball. The basketball player category should be at either Category:Aaron Gordon or Category:Aaron Gordon (basketball).

My preference is to use Category:Aaron Gordon for the basketball player and the disambiguation page move to Category:Aaron Gordon (disambiguation) Ytoyoda (talk) 20:51, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

We don't need to supersede anything, if there is potential for confusion between the 2 name sin English, as there seems to be, the disambiguation should be kept. Our practice here is different from the one at English Wikipedia. This kind of stuff, for instance: Category:Aaron Gordon (disambiguation) is seldom used here (we generally favour the disambiguation on the terms themselves, since it's much more practical with images).-- Darwin ^Ahoy! 22:40, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
