When did the photographer die? The Official Report of the London Games (14 Mb) says that Bowden Bros (45 Essex Street, Strand) were the official photographers. I cannot find when they died. The report says that most photos were made by the same photographer as in Athens 1906. The Library of Congress asserts here that these images are public domain.

Bowden Bros are known in copyright law, because they sued Amalgamated Pictorials. There is also a case Bowden Brothers versus Lotinga.

It does not seem that Bowden Bros on Essex street was the same company as the art dealer mentioned on http://www.npg.org.uk/live/artistsupp_b.asp /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 16:26, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
