English: Wildtype bay is an equine agouti pattern that restricts the eumelanin in the coat to the pastern and foot in the legs, the mane, the tail, and the tips of the ears. Conventionally, wildtype bays have not been differentiated from "ordinary" bays, whose legs are eumelanistic up to the hock/knee. Wildtype bay is caused by the proposed A+ allele of the Agouti gene, or "bay gene", of the horse.
