English: Warrego 1,552 GRT, 867 NRT. Lbd: 250' x 36'2" x 22'8". Steel steamship built by William Doxford & Sons, Sunderland for Queensland SS Co's Australian passenger coastal trade. Designed specially for the "trade war" with the Australasian SN Co.

In 1887 the two rivals merged as the Australasian United SN Co, & Warrego became part of the merged fleet.
In 1912 she was laid up and later sold to the Royal Australian Navy, who had her converted into a store ship, towed by SS Coolgardie to Darwin, Northern Territory, in October 1913. In 1919 a cyclone blew her, with 600 tons of coal aboard, high on the beach near the Darwin wharf.

In 1942 Japanese aircraft bombed her.[1] In 1960 her remains lay on the beach at a spot where a landfill was required for a power station. Her remains were covered over, remaining buried there to this day[2]
